Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers

Injectable dermal fillers are one of the most popular facial rejuvenation techniques available. As we age, the underlying tissues that keep our skin looking youthful and firm begin to break down due to the effects of gravity, sun exposure, diet, genetic factors, and years of facial muscle movement. Over time, these contribute to the loss of volume and development of unwanted lines, wrinkles, and folds in the face as the network of collagen, hyaluronic acid molecules and fat cells that create volume are depleted. Together, breakdown and depletion of these molecules results in wrinkles and other changes to the skin. By replacing the hyaluronic acid that has depleted over time, you can restore natural looking volume, eradicating fine lines and wrinkles.

There are a variety of dermal fillers available, each designed to address different concerns and skin types. From enhancing lips or cheeks, to restoring volume, fillers can smooth skin and give healthy, younger glow.

Belotero and Juvederm are both FDA approved products and based on a unique form of hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally occurs in the skin. They work by restoring volume. Depending on the area and the desired results, the fillers vary in thickness. For more prominent, deeper lines, thicker fillers are used to add volume. For finer lines and wrinkles, thinner hydration fillers are more suitable as they trap water beneath the skin and naturally add volume to these very fine lines.

The choice of dermal filler will be discussed with you on full medical consultation. We are members of the CTIA - Cosmetic Treatments & Injectables Association, with full training, support and accreditation.  Please note - we use the cannula method of injection for a safer administration in naso-labial folds and cheek filler.  We are also fully trained to dissolve hyaluronic acid dermal filler should this be required and in the use of epi-pen which we hold on site for the low, but possible, risk of allergic reaction.  Contact us to discuss treatment options for dermal fillers injections.  Clients will have a full consultation to discuss desired results prior to treatment and to discuss possible side effects, complications and after-care.  Signed consent required prior to treatment.

Post Procedure Care

Immediately after treatment, there may be slight redness, swelling, tenderness and an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injection.  This is temporary and generally disappears in a few days.  We will discuss possible complications of dermal filler with you on consultation and also provide our out of hours contact details for if you have any worries or concerns.  Whilst the likelihood of these complications are very low, and we only use our trained safe methods to inject and the most reputable of medical device regulated (CE) products, we take your safety very seriously and we are available for any questions or visit post treatment and encourage you to be in touch in the days following to ensure everything has settled as expected.  We are fully trained to recognise any complications and deal with issues in the unlikely event that these should arise.
